Joey’s Hub: The St Joseph’s P&F

What is the Joey’s Hub/P&F?

The Joey’s Hub is our name for the school P&F. That stands for Parents & Friends. It’s a welcoming group of parents and carers (friends is a way of including people like grandparents or others in important roles in your child’s life who may want to come along).

This group works together to support our school community and nurture that village feel. For example, the Joey’s Hub may organise welcome events, or special days to celebrate our families throughout the year.

It’s not essential to be part of this, it’s a way to extend your role in the Joey’s community if you’d like. The Hub is a great way to meet other families, stay informed, and contribute to school life in a meaningful (and often fun!) way.

The Hub meets four times a year to share updates, discuss ideas and plan events that bring our community together.

The Hub includes a Board of parent leaders (aka the executive committee) who represent the wider parent body and work closely with the Principal throughout the year on school events and initiatives. They stay in these roles for 4 years and then step back and other parents get involved.

Each class also has Class Parents. They help share relevant information with families and coordinate one class-led event each year – such as a raffle, Mother’s Day brekkie, or similar activity – with the support of all parents in that class. They may also organise social events outside of school.

Whether you’d like to take on a role or simply come along to a meeting, everyone is welcome. You can come to one or come to them all – there’s no commitment. Some parents dial in via Zoom and others attend in person in the library.

The Hub also leads fundraising for the school and each year, they pledge money back to pay for things that are above and beyond normal schooling – eg they funded the Friendology program and also ZING Activ dance training at school.

The Hub is all about connection, collaboration and supporting our children’s school experience.
