Premier's Reading Challenge - St Joseph's Narrabeen

Premier’s Reading Challenge

The Premier’s Reading Challenge is a great opportunity to develop your Joey’s love of reading further, or spark a new interest.

Students need to read 30 books over six months (relevant to their age) to complete the Challenge.

They have been given a personal Reading Log from Mrs McCamey which includes login details, along with access to the list of books, with tonnes available to borrow from the library! More info can be found here.

While obviously the joy of discovering new books is the best part of this initiative, we are keen to support our Joeys with something a little special too, so Mrs McCamey has decided to boost the challenge!

– For every FIVE books read, your Joey will receive an entry into the BOOK BONANZA!
– Once a month, we will pull out a name and one lucky Joey will score a $20 voucher to spend on any books they like at our upcoming Book Fair.
– The more books you read, the more entries you get.

The aim is to maintain momentum for the overall Challenge goal of 20-30 books. Happy reading!

IN A NUTSHELL –
PROCESS: Your Joey should have brought home their login details. If you’ve misplaced them, please ask Mrs McCamey the Librarian for a reminder. (K-2 can have books read to them).
LOGGING BOOKS: It’s super easy to take part. Simply login online, search for a book you have or discover a new book. Once read, click to add it to your log. You can login here. The aim is to read 20-30 books by August.
WHAT TO READ: There are selected books specific to the challenge, along with a number of ‘personal choice’ books, which means you can add your own choices even if they are not on the list. All the rules can be found here.
MRS MCCAMEY’S BOOK BONANZA: Every time your Joey reads five books, they get a special voucher. That is to encourage them to keep going in the challenge! For every 5 books read, they get 1 voucher, and every month we draw a winner of a $20 book voucher.

The main thing to remember is to have fun, try some new stories and be sure to log what your Joey is reading!
