Athletics Order of Events & Expectations
Times may vary slightly on the day.

The 2019 school athletics carnival will be held on Friday 2nd August at the Academy of Sport, Wakehurst Parkway, Narrabeen (Week 2 Term 3).

All children will be required to travel to the venue by bus with the whole school. The bus will leave school at 9.15am and return at 2.30pm. Should you wish to take your child home at the conclusion of the carnival (expected time is 2 pm) please indicate on the Google form (link below).

The carnival will run simultaneously as an infants skill development carnival for kindergarten and year 1 on the grass area in the middle of the track (this includes modified field events, novelty races, relay and running races) and a primary carnival for years 2-6.

5, 6, 7 YEAR OLDS
Are eligible to compete in the track in the 70m and 100m

ALL AGES
100m – these are run in separate age groups and separate boys and girls

ALL OTHER EVENTS
800m – this event is run as a timed final – Junior (under 8, 9 and 10’s), 11 yrs and 12 yrs
200m – this event is run as a timed final – Junior (under 8, 9 and 10’s), 11 yrs and 12 yrs

FIELD EVENTS
Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put and Discus – please note all field events are grouped into Junior (under 8, 9 and 10’s); 11 years and 12 Years

UNIFORM
Students must wear their sports uniform including a hat and their colour house t-shirt.  Please remember to bring recess, lunch, drinks for the day, sunscreen and any required medication

VOLUNTEERS
As always, without our PARENTS we could not run a carnival. If you can spare anytime on the day please complete the google form included.

School finishes for Term 2 on Friday 5 July 2019.

Students return on Tuesday 23 July 2019 for term 3 in full winter uniform.

Monday 22 July is a Staff Development Day (no pupils).  School Zones come back into force on Monday 22 July 2019.

Parent Teacher interviews will be held during Week 9 of Term 2 (24 June – 28 June 2019).  Year 2 will also have interviews on 2 July 2019.

YEAR 6 PLEASE NOTE:  Due to Mrs Paul being on long service leave, parent/teacher interviews for year 6 will be held later in Term 3.  You will receive a separate booking code closer to the time.

Interviews are for 15 minutes, with morning, afternoon and evening timeslots available.  You can now book interviews at times that suit your family best.  Split families are welcome to make separate interviews.

When you click finish, your interview timetable will be emailed to you automatically – check your junk mail folder if you do not receive your email immediately.

Parents can change their interview bookings, any time prior to the closing date, by re-visiting the www.schoolinterviews.com.au website, and using the event code.

Remember to use the same name and email address, you used when you made your original booking.

We will be holding two Discos on the night at separate times.

Junior (K-2) 5.30-6.45pm (toddlers / pre schoolers welcome)
Senior (3-6) 7.00-8.30pm

This will result in a less crowded hall, less overwhelmed little ones, and more space for everyone to dance and enjoy themselves.  See newsletter for full details.

As part of the school’s PDHPE Program in Term 2 all the children in Years 3 to 6 will participate in a Gala Day. This year they are required to select a sport they wish to participate in. They all have the choice of Eagle Tag or Rugby League.

Please discuss with your child the sport he or she would like to choose, and complete the Google Form permission note by Thursday 6 June.

DATES:
Years 3 and 4 – Tuesday 2nd July 2019
Years 5 and 6 – Thursday 4th July 2019

EAGLE TAG:  This is open to all boys and girls and is held at North Narrabeen Reserve, North Narrabeen.

RUGBY LEAGUE:  Students who choose Rugby League must have a current rugby registration and are required to supply their own protective head gear, mouthguards and boots with non-metal studs. Please be aware they will be involved in tackling. This is to be held at Boondah Reserve.

TRANSPORT:  Students will walk to and from the venue.

UNIFORM:   Students playing eagle tag are to wear their sports uniform including a hat. Students playing Rugby League will be given a jersey to wear on the day.

FOOD AND DRINK:  Please bring recess and lunch, you may wish to include some extra healthy snacks. Plenty of water to drink is essential. There is no canteen.

SUNSCREEN:  Parents, sunscreen must be applied at home for the day. It is advised that sunscreen is brought on the day for your child to re-apply throughout the day.

PARENT HELPERS:  We need parents to help with team supervision for the day. If you can offer your time to help supervise your child’s team on the day please indicate below. This would be greatly appreciated.
